Fireweed ( Epilobium angustifolium)

Their name doesn't refer to their colour but to the place they grow : burned over areas. Masses of this flower look beautiful.

Spotted Joe-Pye Weed (Eupatorium maculatum )

Who was Joe Pye ? An Indian who treated fevers with this flower. Was he successful ?

    Alfalfa ( Medicago sativa )

This is now a wildflower persisting on an ancient cultivated land. It is in the pea family like clover.

      Comfrey ( Symphytum officinale )

You will find it along road side in Quebec city suburb. This photo is four times enlarged. The ant was very small.

Running Mallow ( Malva rotundifolia )

A very attractive flower. Grows in disturbed areas. Considered as a weed.

Groundnut (Apios americana)

This pea family plant is edible. Bulges on  the rhizome look like rosary beads. They can be cooked like potatoes. Indians and first american settlers used to eat them.
